Robert Boyd studied at the Tyler School of Art in Philidelphia and Cooper Union in New York. His solo exhibitions include Recent Video Works at 00130 Gallery in Helsinki (2005), The Virgin Collection at Schroeder Romero in Brooklyn (2002), Transcendental Landscape at Smart Project Space in Amsterdam (2001), Deathstars at the Islip Art Museum in Islip, New York (1999), and Momenta Art in Brooklyn (1996). Boyd has exhibited his work in many group exhibitions at venues such as Palacio del Bellas Artes in Mexico City (2006), Elga Wimmer PPC in New York (2005), Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin (2004), White Box in New York  (2004), Galerie Chez Valentin in Paris (2002), Gale Gates et al. in Brooklyn (2001), and ABC No Rio in New York (1992). In 2004 he was awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts Artists Fellowship in Photography.
